Jade Peak writes about places, experiences, and the people behind them, so hotels, operators, and companies come up often. We have no financial relationship with any entity named in this article. If that ever changes, we'll say so plainly, right here at the top.
If you think Rome is just pizza and pasta, this blog might not be for you. It only works if you’re curious about what else the city has to offer beyond the classics beyond a Maritozzo for breakfast or Fiori di Zucca for lunch. At Jade Peak, we’re always looking for the new corners of the city that spark our interest, whether that’s culture, adventure, wellness, or just something that feels genuinely exciting. Here, we share the spots we find worth exploring, the hidden gems that might surprise even longtime Romans.
Luna by Faro
One of the spots we loved to go to in Rome is Luna by Faro, a café and all-day dining space that puts real emphasis on the supply chain and ingredient quality. From specialty coffee roasted in-house to thoughtfully sourced seasonal dishes, everything is designed to feel fresh yet rooted in Italian tradition. Fun fact: although the Church once considered coffee “the devil’s drink,” around 1600 Pope Clement VIII tried it and instead of banning it, he officially “baptized” it. Luna’s menu is full of Italian classics with a modern twist like the Frittatina with eggs that we really want to try.
Dorian Center Fitness Club
On the movement side, we also spent time at the Dorian Center Fitness Club. If you’re visiting Rome, you can get a day pass or even a weekly pass (which honestly feels like a steal if you’re staying longer). What stood out is how complete it is. You've got everything from calisthenics zones to pole dance classes, which you don’t usually see in the same space.
And then there’s the spa. Inside the recovery area you’ll find a Finnish sauna for detox and circulation, a Turkish bath for deep muscle relaxation, a whirlpool bath to reset after training, plus an ice fountain, sensory showers, and a quiet relaxation room to fully switch off.
Hosteria del Mercato
Hosteria del Mercato is first and foremost a bio food market, a paradise for food lovers like us. Part restaurant, part organic juice bar, tea room, and cocktail bar, it’s a space where you can enjoy a meal on-site or take home 100% natural, organic, and sustainable products. Having visited Italy many times, we think it would be a shame if any home cook didn’t try to pick up some of these high-quality ingredients to either create something special at home or simply take them along as souvenirs. ]\
Their Bio Market highlights the work of passionate farmers and producers, with freshly picked seasonal fruits and vegetables, organic cheeses, and cured meats. The ancient-grain breads are artisanal loaves made from heritage wheat varieties like Timilia, Senatore Cappelli, and Verna. Celebrated for their nutty flavor, high nutritional value, and lower gluten content, these breads are highly digestible and this is an absolute must-try. The market also offers gluten-free options, specialty flours, and a wide selection of extra virgin olive oils, preserves, and sauces.
