Jade Peak writes about places, experiences, and the people behind them, so hotels, operators, and companies come up often. We have no financial relationship with any entity named in this article. If that ever changes, we'll say so plainly, right here at the top.
For years, gyms were built to get you in, trained, and out. A new generation of fitness spaces is proving that members want more than a room of dumbbells and treadmills.
Rio de Janeiro's The Simple Gym is part of that shift. Alongside strength training, Pilates and recovery facilities, the club offers virtual classes and digital coaching, allowing members to continue following their training plans whether they're at home, traveling or unable to make it to the gym. The physical space becomes one part of a broader fitness experience.
The experience extends beyond exercise, too. Instead of rushing out after a workout, members can spend time in the café, where healthy meals and fresh açaí bowls are part of the daily routine. It's a small detail, but one that reflects a bigger trend. Gyms are evolving into places where movement, nutrition, recovery and community come together.
If we were spending a few weeks in Rio, this is the kind of place we'd make part of our routine. We'd happily grab a matcha, open our laptops for a couple of hours of remote work, then finish the day in the recovery area. We especially loved that The Simple Gym includes cold therapy alongside body recovery treatments similar to wood therapy. Training, a café, recovery rooms, and cold therapy in one place make it a full wellness club, built for how people want to live now.
